RAFA PRAISES STRIKERS AFTER FULHAM ROUT

Rafael Benitez was full of praise for his strikers after seeing Robbie Fowler, Fernando Morientes and Peter Crouch all get on the scoresheet in the 5-1 thrashing of Fulham at Anfield.
The Liverpool manager always maintained he had confidence that his strikers would come good and start getting amongst the goals and his faith was repaid in style on a freezing cold night at Anfield.
"It was a fantastic game for the strikers and the team and it was very important for us to see them score," enthused Benitez.
"It was good to see Robbie Fowler, Fernando Morientes and Peter Crouch all score and the assists of Djibril Cisse and it is very important for their confidence.
"It has given me a nice selection problem for the next game but a good one. This was a really important three points for us and my idea is to get another three points at Newcastle in the next game on Sunday."
Although Benitez didn't want to single out any of his strikers on a night when everything came together, he couldn't hide his delight in seeing Fowler finally break his duck since returning to the club.
"We were all waiting for Robbie to score his first goal back at Liverpool and it was a reward for his hard work," he said. "It was good for the supporters, the team and Robbie for him to score."
While Benitez wanted to talk about the game, there was only one thing the press wanted to ask him - whether he'd signed a new contract at Anfield, as suggested in the Spanish media.
"We are talking and my relationship with the board and the fans is fantastic," responded Benitez. "We don't have problems and I am very happy here. We are talking about the future."
To find out how the press tried to pin the Reds boss down and how Benitez batted away their questions with great humour, make sure you watch the post-match press conference.
